Market leader in preventing rounded fasteners
The standard DFRA6572 solved the vertical clearance problem: paired with a GripEdge Dual Action Driver bit, it produces a 22mm combined stack height, the lowest available. The DFRA3572 solves the horizontal one. It keeps the same head, mechanism, and stack height on a 3.5" body, 3" shorter than the standard ratchet, so it fits and swings where a full-length handle hits a firewall, frame member, bulkhead, or housing before completing a stroke. The short lever arm also gives finer control over small and delicate fasteners, where a longer handle makes it easy to overtorque.
The head is where the clearance comes from. A patented recess ring inside the ratchet head lets a GripEdge Dual Action Driver bit seat deeper into the tool than any other ratchet accepts, so the bit and ratchet function as one integrated unit rather than two stacked parts. That advantage only applies with GripEdge 1/4" drive DAD bits; a standard hex bit socket gives it up entirely.
Key features
- 22mm combined stack height. An 8.0mm head paired with a seated DAD bit measures 22.0mm on the fastener, compared with 33.5mm for an average 1/4" ratchet and bit socket and 23.5mm for the leading low-profile competitor running a GripEdge DAD bit.
- 3.5" stubby body. The shortest ratchet in the DAD lineup fits into pockets and cavities where a longer handle has no room to move, and keeps the tool compact enough to carry in a pocket or small kit. The trade is leverage: for seized or high-torque fasteners, the 6.5" DFRA6572 or 10" DFRA1072 is the better choice.
- Contoured handle. The handle profile is shaped for grip stability and control, reducing hand fatigue over extended use, especially in a short-handle tool driven mostly by the fingers and palm.
- Reversible 72-tooth mechanism, 5 degree swing arc. Many low-profile ratchets are not reversible. This one is, and its fine tooth count engages with minimal handle travel, which matters most on a stubby handle where every degree of swing is limited.
- Non-locking flex head, 0 to 180 degrees. A friction pivot holds position through the full range without a lock. Omitting the lock saves parts and height and removes a component that can fail under load.
- Flush-mount selector switch. The direction switch sits flush with the head, so it cannot snag, catch on surrounding components, or flip mid-stroke. It is glove friendly and unique among low-profile ratchets.
- Low-backdrag mechanism. The handle resets on the return stroke without pulling the bit or fastener backward, which keeps small and lightly seated fasteners from turning with the handle.
- Field-serviceable. The head uses exposed fasteners and replaceable gear assemblies, the flex joint is replaceable, and dedicated repair kits are available, so a worn ratchet gets rebuilt in the field instead of replaced.
- Forged Cr-Mo steel, hi-polish chrome. Chrome-molybdenum construction resists wear and deformation under load, with a chrome finish for corrosion resistance and easy cleanup. ASME B107 compliant.
Built for automotive, aerospace, industrial maintenance, and precision fabrication work where both stack height and swing room are tight.

Compatibility
This ratchet works only with GripEdge 1/4" drive Dual Action Driver bits. The 7/16" hex pass-through cavity is sized for 1/4" drive DAD bodies; 3/8" drive Dual Action Drivers will not fit. Compatible sets include:
- DDHAM10S: 10-Pc Metric Hex Dual Action Driver Set. 2mm through 10mm, all sizes.
- DDHAS10S: 10-Pc SAE Hex Dual Action Driver Set. 5/64" through 3/8", all sizes.
- DDSA13S: 13-Pc Star (Torx Compatible) Dual Action Driver Set. T8 through T60, all sizes.
- DDTS12S: 12-Pc Triple Square Dual Action Driver Set. M4 through M14 only. The M16 and M18 in this set are 3/8" drive and will not fit.
Same 22mm stack height, a fraction of the swing room.
